Mistletoe Treats

  • Butter
  • 1 package (14 oz) caramels
  • 3 T water
  • 1 cup corn chex
  • 1 cup bran cereal squares
  • 1 cup rice chex
  • 1 cup granola
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups salted peanuts
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 T shortening
  1. Grease 9 x 13 baking dish with butter.
  2. Remove wrappers from caramels. Place caramels in microwave safe bowl and add water.
  3. Microwave caramels on high for 1 minutes. Stir caramels with spoon.
  4. Microwave caramels on hgih for another 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or unitl melted and hot. Carefully remove bowl form oven and stir.
  5. Combine cereals, granola, coconut, and peanuts in large mixing bowl and stir with mixing spoon.
  6. Carefully drizzle caramel over cereal mixture, then stir to coat.
  7. Pour Mixture into buttered baking dish.
  8. Grease back of spoon with butter and gently press mixture evenly into the dish.
  9. Pour chocolate chips into glass bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir chips with mixing spoon and add shortening to mixture.
  10. Microwave on high for another 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until melted and hot, carefully remove from oven and stir.
  11. Slowly drizzle chocolate over mixture in thin lines across the top.
  12. chill mixture 30 minutes or until chocolate is cooled.
  13. Cut mixture into squares with knife before serving. Store in airtight container.
